Doors open at 7 PM, so come early to grab a seat, enjoy some food and drinks, and get ready for a great night. Signup is in person before 8 PM, so if you want to take the stage, make sure to sign up early!
The show is hosted by the incredibly talented comedian Shawn Carter — a true powerhouse in the comedy scene. With years of experience, a unique comedic style, and an ability to keep audiences laughing all night, Shawn is known for creating an atmosphere where everyone feels at home, whether you’re on stage or in the crowd.

As the air turns crisp and the days grow golden, autumn invites us to slow down, reflect, and dig deep. Bonfires & Plotlines is a creative writing workshop designed to harness the evocative spirit of fall-its warmth, nostalgia, decay, and transformation-as fuel for rich, emotionally resonant storytelling.Whether you're crafting fiction, memoir, or lyrical prose, this class encourages you to write from the core of your experiences and imagination. Each week, we'll gather around the metaphorical bonfire to explore seasonal themes-change, memory, letting go, and inner fire-through writing prompts, guided discussions, and supportive peer feedback.Expect cozy vibes, and a renewed sense of connection to your voice, your stories, and the natural rhythm of your creative process.All levels welcome. Bring a notebook, your favorite pen, and a readiness to write from the heart.

Listen to tales of bravery and give thanks to those who work to keep us safe at the latest edition of the StoryTown Radio Show on Monday, September 22nd at 7:00 pm at the McKinney Center.
StoryTown performs in the format of a live, old-time radio show complete with sound effects, musical underscoring, live skits, and a great musical guest. This month’s show is titled “Ode to the First Responders.” We’ll be sharing stories of selfless bravery from Hurricane Helene and the local recovery efforts; rescue helicopter pilots, nurses, and more. Joining the cast this month are the David Crockett High School Madrigal Singers under the direction of Kelly Davenport. We’ll also have storyteller Jennifer Armstrong with us. The Radio Show is recorded for broadcast on local NPR station WETS 89.5 out of Johnson City, which can be heard the last Wednesday of the month at 8PM. This fall, kids will step into a world of wonder at the Fall Enrichment Camp: STREAM Spectacular! Designed for grades 1–6, this weeklong adventure combines hands-on projects with exciting carnival fun. Campers will engineer and build their very own carnival booths, explore the science and surprise behind magic tricks and optical illusions, and practice real-world skills by budgeting and “buying” with tickets. Blending creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, the STREAM Spectacular makes learning unforgettable—bringing together Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math in a playful and imaginative way!
