Indigenous Peoples Heritage Month Celebration with Chef Nephi Craig
To celebrate the Indigenous Peoples Heritage Month, we are thrilled to welcome Chef Nephi Craig for an interactive conversation about Indigenous cuisines, a food tasting, and a signing of his new memoir, Our Knives Will Save Us: Dispatches from a White Mountain Apache Chef. Nephi Craig is the executive chef of Café Gozhóó in Whiteriver, Arizona—located on the White Mountain Apache Tribe reservation—and the founder of the Native American Culinary Association (NACA), an organization dedicated to researching, refining, and developing Native American cuisine. With 28 years of culinary experience across the Americas and around the world, Craig is a leader who teaches, inspires, and engages audiences on Indigenous food, history, identity, health, and healing. His work promotes healthy eating and living while advocating for deep connections to his heritage and community. Chef Craig’s work has been featured in national and international publications such as Newsweek, Forbes, Food & Wine, and The Guardian. We invite the campus community to an interactive conversation with Chef Craig and a sampling of Indigenous foods on Tuesday, November 10, at 11:30 AM in D.P. Culp Ballroom B.
Evening Conversation: Tuesday, November 10, at 7 p.m. in the D.P. Culp Ballroom B. This session will be open to the campus community and public. Topics will include Indigenous food and culture, community engagement, health and nutrition, and his new book, which will be available for purchase through the bookstore.
