Symphony of the Mountains – Stars, Stripes, and Symphonies

Symphony of the Mountains – Stars, Stripes, and Symphonies
For the final performance of the 48th Pro-Art season, Symphony of the Mountains is proud to present "Stars, Stripes, and Symphonies" at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 29th at Leeman Field in Pennington Gap in conjunction with the W. Campbell Edmonds Concert Series. This free outdoor concert blends patriotic favorites, jazz standards, Broadway hits, and cinematic scores for a dynamic and uplifting program that honors both tradition and innovation. Pack a lawn chair or blanket and join us under the stars for an evening of music that celebrates shared stories and enduring melodies.
The concert features a thoughtful mix of familiar tunes and fresh arrangements—from the stirring “Star-Spangled Banner” to the swing of the Big Band era, the bold energy of “Chicago” and “Magnificent Seven,” alongside tributes to the American spirit with selections like “The American Frontier” and “Born on the Fourth of July.” Featuring soprano Julie B. Roy and narrator Rick McVey, the performance culminates with beloved national favorites “God Bless America” and “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
Symphony of the Mountains’ commitment to service encompasses the entire region, without regard for state or county boundaries. The orchestra consists of more than 70 professional musicians conducted by Cornelia Laemmli Orth.
