Greene County Heritage Trust Early American Christmas Dinner
Greene County Heritage Trust Early American Christmas Dinner
The Greene County Heritage Trust Early American Christmas Dinner is scheduled for Thursday evening, Nov. 30, at the General Morgan Inn and Conference Center, 111 N. Main St., Greeneville. Light refreshments in the lobby at 6 p.m., followed by a seated dinner and program at 6:30. The speaker will be Gregg Jones, retired publisher of The Greeneville Sun and founding president of Old Town Development. Mr. Jones was the leader and coordinator of the broad private-public alliance of individuals, organizations, businesses, banks, and government agencies at all levels that transformed the historic but then-crumbling Hotel Brumley into the General Morgan Inn and Conference Center between the mid-1980s and late September 1996, when the Inn opened. This dramatic story from Mr. Jones' unique "inside" perspective has not previously been told in detail in a public setting. Tickets: $50 per person. Reservations required by 12 noon on Friday, Nov. 24. (No physical tickets.) Checks should be sent to: Greene County Heritage Trust, P.O. Box 1794, Greeneville, TN 37744. The Dinner is the Heritage Trust's only major fund-raising event each year. All proceeds above costs will go toward the organization's mission of preserving, restoring, and promoting the historic heritage of Greeneville and Greene County.
