Bud Frank Cinema Screening of Perfect Days
Bud Frank Cinema Screening of Perfect Days
Slice-of-life comes to the Bud Frank on April 5th at 7 PM with its showing of Perfect Days. After featuring the high-stakes drama Anatomy of a Fall, the theater moves to Perfect Days, offering an empathetic and endearing perspective on the events of everyday life. Minimalism at its greatest, Wim Wender’s film creates a touching experience that allows its viewers to reminisce over the beauty of the little things in life we, at times, take for granted.
A movie about toilets and a man who cleans them—what could be better than that? Perfect Days focuses on an ordinary, simple toilet cleaner, Hirayama. He lives by the structure of his routine, day in and day out, but a set of encounters causes him to face the questions of who he is and what role he plays in his own life.
Perfect Days has won the Cannes and Asian Film Awards for Best Actor for Kōji Yakusho’s depiction of Hirayama, won the Asia Pacific Screen Awards for Best Film, and won the Japan Academy Fim Prizes for Director of the Year and Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role.
