ROGERSVILLE, TN, Friday night, September 28th, 7:00PM, 1924 East Main, St., a concert and open mike event will be hosted by the Rogersville Arts Council at the Rogersville Playhouse. In-the-round performance showcasing the songwriting talents of several Hillbilly Culture Community members, including Guerry McConnell, is followed by a concert featuring Benny Wilson and Amanda Williams. Hometown favorite entertainer, Benny Wilson, along with Amanda, has performed for numerous 4th of July concerts as well as the annual “Coming Home Concert” with Vince Gil, Tim McGraw, Allen Jackson and others, that benefits the American Cancer Society. Tickets for the upcoming show are $12.00 and part of the proceeds will go to benefit the Rogersville Arts Council. There will be an open mike opportunity after the concert for ticket holders at a first come first serve signup basis. Tickets can be ordered by calling the Rogersville Playhouse, 423-293-0882. In addition, Amanda will conduct the “HC101 Songwriting Workshop -Getting Started in the Right Way in the New Millennium of Music” at the Playhouse on Saturday, September 29, 10AM-12Noon. This session covers everything you need to know to get your music career headed in the right direction: from copyright basics, explaining publishing deals and how to manage your original song catalogue like the pros in Nashville. She will also answer questions about Nashville music industry practices that may be confusing from the outside looking in. The cost for the workshop of $75.00 includes workbook and free admission to the Friday night performance. If you’re curious to see what the pros think about your songs or if you’re not sure whether to spend the money on a professional demo, there are several options for getting your songs heard, including a private 1 on 1 time and a written evaluation. Cost will run from $15.00, depending on the arrangements made.
