Dear WETS-FM supporter,
The WETS-FM spring fundraiser begins tomorrow. I’m asking you to make a pledge to help get the drive off to a good start. You can call 888-89-5- WETS tomorrow after 7 am – or you can pledge online – now or anytime:
These are exciting times for WETS-FM. We are about to enter a new era in broadcasting. This summer, we will inaugurate “HD,” or digital broadcasting. Listeners with digital receivers will be able to pick up not only our current analog signal, but three digital signals as well. Two of those HD channels will be devoted exclusively to music, while one digital channel (along with our analog channel) will continue to bring you the finest news and information from NPR, the BBC, and other sources.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting awarded WETS-FM a grant to cover 70 percent of the cost of this project. We are depending on listeners like you to help cover the station’s share.
Much of what we need for the HD project has already been pledged. But we need your support in other areas as well. Listeners like you cover the cost of NPR’s award-winning newsmagazines Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Your pledges pay for The Diane Rehm Show, Fresh Air, and Talk of the Nation (including Science Friday).
You provide the funding for weekend favorites like Car Talk, Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me, This American Life, and A Prairie Home Companion. Listener support makes it possible for WETS-FM to produce information and entertainment programs like Studio One, Business Matters, Ritmo Latino, Friday Night Americana, Your Weekly Constitutional, Celtic Clanjamfry, and WETS Community Forum.
And your support will allow us to bring music back to the public radio airwaves, even better than before. One channel will be devoted exclusively to Americana and related genres, while another will offer 24 hours per day of classical and jazz.
Please make your online pledge today. Or call us tomorrow morning after 7 am. You depend on WETS-FM – and we depend on you.
Thank you,
Wayne Winkler
Director, WETS-FM
