This is a Celebration of First Lady Eliza McCardle Johnson's 200th Birthday...who was born Oct. 4, 1810 at the present day McCarty Cemetery on highway 11E, Telford. Washington County's only First Lady of the United States. Rededication Ceremony at McCarty Cemetery 10:00 AM. Eliza was President Andrew Johnson's wife. It is also a fundraising event with a cruise-in car show,at Lowe's of Jonesborough. This event is to help the McCarty Cemetery Association raise funds to maintain the cemetery and this historic site which was recoginized by the DAR with a marker in the Cemetery in 1976. This event is also to help raise awareness of the fact a First Lady of the United States was born here in Washington County. The cruise-in Car Show is for Cars, Trucks, Tractors, Bikes will be from 10AM-3PM at Lowes... no Entry Fee; Donations Only..A Classic Car procession from the cemetery to Lowes will leave the cemetery at 11AM.
