“Since 1945, I have not been as afraid as I am now,” words spoken by Nobel Prize laureate Elie Wiesel, opens Unmasked Judeophobia, The Threat to Civilization the new documentary film released by Doc Emet Productions, which will be shown to the public at the Johnson City Public Library on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 2:00 PM. Filmmaker Gloria Greenfield has created an examination of the troubling resurgence of lethal anti-Semitism in regions around the world. Her aim is not to scare but to “ inspire all good and decent people to wake up to the reality of what is happening today.” Greenfield and her film crew traveled widely interviewing 70 leading experts in international law, media, history, political science, and psychology. The commentaries of 49 experts along with illuminating archival footage in this 81-minute documentary underscore a troubling rise in anti-Jewish ideology. Rachel Fish, Assistant Director of Program Development at the Schusterman Center for Israel Studies at Brandeis University and a Johnson City native, will lead the post-screening discussion. The event is sponsored by the B’nai Sholom Congregation, and the public is invited at no charge. For more details, call Dr. Charles Fish at 423-534-6967. Website: http://www.unmaskedthemovie.com
