Martin Espada is the author, editor, or translator of seventeen books, including his most recent collection of poems The Trouble Ball (2011). His 1996 collection, Imagine the Angels of Bread, won the Before Columbus Foundation American Book Award, while his 2006 volume, The Republic of Poetry, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. The recipient of two NEA Creative Writing Fellowships, he has also received a Guggenheim Fellowship. He currently teaches at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
