ETSU to offer ‘Art for the Garden’ summer sculpture class JOHNSON CITY– East Tennessee State University’s Department of Art and Design and the Office of Professional Development will offer “Art for the Garden,” a summer sculpture class, weekdays, June 7-July 2, from 6-9 p.m. in the ETSU Art Annex sculpture area. The class provides students with an opportunity to examine sculpture used in gardens around the world, including the work of contemporary sculptors who create environmentally sensitive work. Designed for students of all skill levels, the class curriculum encompasses basic fabrication skills, including simple welding, stone carving and work with concrete and mosaics. Each student will design and construct at least two sculptures for a specific outdoor site. “Art for the Garden” can be taken for three undergraduate or graduate credit hours or may be taken for a non-credit fee of $300.
